Making a marsh hex on a blank template
Making a marsh hex on a blank template
Taking a quick look at my new marsh hex. I abraded the hex with sandpaper and put PVA across the face, avoiding heavy brush marks because it would show through the water. The higher dry ground was formed from filler mixed with green paint. The water was painted ultramarine blue and then everything was 'knocked back' with a dirty wash. Inks were applied to dips and gullies, with flocks and grass tufts added to reinforce the marsh aspect of the piece.

Thanks, the templates are sold by Kallistra, I think they might call them Forrest templates, but they are just thin plastic blanks and you can get them as singles or two hex or three hex varieties. I got a few to paint up grey to make town areas.
