Memorial game for Dave Mac
Memorial game for Dave Mac
Napoleonic and World War II were perhaps his most favoured periods for wargaming, however, he would happily focus his passion on any historical period that provided for an entertaining and rewarding game. One of his most recent painting projects was a massive Imperial Roman army in 12mm. To call his collection of miniatures impressive would be a major understatement. His Napoleonic French and Russian armies alone were so large that to stage the Battle of Borodino in miniatures was not a problem. Sadly, despite much preparation, his Borodino project was stalled by his health issues. However, club and family members are determined to stage this game in his memory at a major show in the future.
The club staged a massive War of The Roses Hordes & Heroes game in his memory. It felt good to gather all the club members around a single gaming table for an evening to celebrate the wargaming life of Dave Mac. Winning or losing the game, was totally irrelevant, all that mattered is that we took pleasure in each other’s company, while indulging in the hobby we love and remembering the life of one of our own.
Dave was a very proud, tough Scot, ex paratrooper who served in the Falklands and a very good friend who will be missed by many.
