In this pack there are figures shouldering what looks like a large container (or is it a drum?) - pardon my ignorance of the period, but what are they?

Hi,
The large container is in fact a very large 'Soup Tureen' which was a regarded by the Janissaries to have the same status as that of a of standard, plus it could contain enough communal food to feed a large body of men!
