Hello,
I am very newbie about modelling, so I am still confused about some terms (flocks, static grass, scatter...). I am preparing some brown trenches I bought on the Kallistra store, but I have some problems regarding the inner part of trenches. On the "Hexon terrain features" page, the description said that the already flocked trenches have been "flocked using a soft earth coloured flock". However, I cannot find this "soft earth coloured flock" on the Kallistra shop (it seems that the Kallistra shop only sell green flock). I searched on the internet (for example on the NOCH offical online shop) in order to find a "soft earth coloured flock". but I found only generic "brown flock", without indication about "softeness" or "hardness".
Being totally ignorant about these things, I would like to ask some help: does all the "flocks" sold in modelling shops are soft, or there exist also "rough flocks" ? I do not want to buy but some rough material which can damage my painted miniatures when I place them inside trenches. Can someone could suggest me a very specific "soft" brown flock product I can buy on an online shop?

Flock consists of very thin coloured fibres, usually nylon, which can be applied using an electrostatic machine for very short fine fibre, or by simply sprinkling onto the glued surface when using longer, thicker flock such as the Noch 50210 Spring Meadow.

Scenic scatter is cloured, freeze dried plastic foam which is then powdered when frozen. Example would be the K&M scatter material which is available from the kallistra web store.

Both of these are 'soft' to the touch and are favoured over hard materials such as silver sand which have the potential to damage painted miniatures.

Both flocks and scatter can be tricky to apply and it is often easier to simply paint terrain using model paint or even emulsion paint. Flock/scatter can then be added to specific areas to further advance the scenic effect.
