single boards for 4' X 4' table

How many single boards would I need to make a 4' X 4' board. Any help would be great.

Hi I think it would be 24 4 across by 6

48" wide by 42" deep will use up 24 of the 6 hex tiles, which will give you a 12 X 12 hex grid if you have the hex grain running widthways, so on a true 4' x 4', you will have enough space to put a line of single 1 hex tiles to extend your depth by 1 row to give a 12 (wide) x 13 (deep) grid.

Note a 4 ft wide table just about takes the 6 tiles, there is a VERY slight overhang on the table, but t is fin in practice.
