Ok this is continuing a hustle i started two days ago on facebook
I am currently heavily invested in time and money in Romano-British warfare using "dux bellorum". My figures of choice have been kallistra and so far I have managed with some considerable effort in time and extremely damaged fingers to form and convert enough figures for four armies so far. early post-roman, heroic Romano-British, Welsh and saxon. To achieve it I've used or converted figures from all the early dark age ranges , Normans and samurai. Really pleased with the end result because no other figures I've seen have the same wonderful degree of animation and positioning that the Kallistra figures have. Ok that's enough praise so now to the nitty gritty. I would very much like to move on to hairy arse irish and the tricky dark haired picts but unfortunately even converting ranges can't help me.. So kind sirs from kallistra how about some limited ranges of picts and irish to swell out the early dark age figures?

As a further thought a far simpler way to cover gaps in the ranges would be just sprues of heads. This would make so many figure packs usable just with a head swap. ie Roman heads. Saxon heads long haired heads top knot heads.. etc etc... quick slice off of the old head, superglue the new one and and Bob's yer uncle.. oh wait that's me...

12mm head swaps is a sound idea in principle, but perhaps too much a visual and physical challenge for many!

Ah the standard "but its too small and i'm useless at converting" answer.
My approach to modelling is a bit similar to my approach to unusual food dishes. Until you try it you never know what your missing. I find that works for most things in life.
There are exceptions of course like "do it yourself" and "house decorating". Both are to be avoided like the plague.

I think Paul's afraid to try to mould and then cast separate 12mm heads!

My wounds have now healed considerably.
My blog is getting a fair bit of attention now particularly from other guys gaming in 10/12 and as a result I am coming to realise that none of the major manufacturers produces opponents for the Romano british forces. A few guys have said " I would love to game this period in 10mm but who the hell makes figures for the late romans to fight?" You guys have the only real opposition with your saxons who can be early or late by selection from the packs. Considering the huge popularity of dark age britain via dux bellorum, dux britanniarum and saga. It's strange that almost all manufacturers with figures in this period have late Romans but very little to fight against them. Personally I've now solved my problems for opposition by converting from half a dozen packs across your various ranges but for the non-converter they are really stuck.. Is this something worth considering for you guys. ?
When I say I've solved my problems cavalry are still a nightmare. A pack of less well armoured more generic dark age cavalry to complement the Romano british one, would still be really handy.

We have been asked to produce single figure packs of our dark age ranges by a good number of customers. I'm sure that a certain dark age rule set is behind this! As a reponse we will be making our Romano British, Saxon, Viking and Norman infantry packs avilable as single figures very shortly. This may help with the coversion project!
