Re: Scots Common Army

Thanks Norm. Snag is that most of the banners are out of context outwith Flodden. Still, only a heraldry guru would notice, right? :D

Re: Tabletop terrain

I should of course have mentioned that DBA and Hordes of the Things (HOTT), among others, have systems for the selection and placing of terrain.

Re: Flodden 1513

The main problem was the rules used; the combat factor for archers was twice what H and H allows, combine that with pretty even dice scores for each side and you end up with that result. I'm new to H and H but like what I read, yet to run a game using it, only waiting for my D12s! Thinking of adapti...

Re: Flodden 1513

I've replied on the blog but anyway. Hordes and Heroes Medieval has an elegant skirmishing mechanism which doesn't allow archers to indulge in h-to-h combat. I'm going to adopt this as an optional ability for all my archers. One way round the Agincourt problem is to allow h-to-h combat but only as s...

Re: Tabletop terrain

Create a table using playing card values which represent a type of terrain. Theoretically divide the surface into 4 or 6 sections and deal a card into each. For a road or river, each starts in the section where the card fell and runs to the opposite side.

Rules didn't work too well, discovered H and H Med after the event, must give them a go.

Re: Translate Artillery Shooting Factors

Ah, now I get it. Unexplained abbreviations and acronyms will be the death of me! Why not just put 4+ to hit, 9+ to hit, etc.?

Many thanks for taking the trouble to reply, appreciated.

Cheers,
George

Translate Artillery Shooting Factors

Can't get my head round these and the rules are anything but clear to me, e.g.:

1-3 Hex OK that's the range;
but what does 4+(H) 9+(H) mean?

However at 4 Hex range;
6+(H) 12+ (2H) sems to indicate the guns are more effective at longer range?

At a loss with this, any kind person care to explain it?
